Last day before half term

We are all looking forward to a rest after working so hard this half term. When we come back we will be looking at rivers!
We will be gathering information about the Thames, Severn, Nile, Amazon, Ganges and Mississippi. We will also look at the sources of these rivers, where they flow to and analysing various features of all rivers.
We will also be going on a trip to Cardingmill Valley towards the end of November to carry out some field work......it will be chilly!

Wrapping tea cups

Today in numeracy we were problem solving. We had to measure out a container to keep a coffee cup warm. Wrapping tea cups in paper was so fun!My favourite part was when we were wrapping the tea cups in the paper. But it was a mess.

Flag Challenge

Who wants to take on this challenge?
Can you find out all the countries that have visited our blog?
Today we took on some difficult maths problems involving mass. In literacy we have started a new book called The Pearl Diver about a young boy and his father who are divers in the Arabian Sea.

In Science we planned our own experiment to see what is the best material to keep coffee warm, we discovered that wool was the best insulator of heat out of cotton, kitchen foil, cling film and paper.

The Case of Malificent!

Today we looked and analysed goals scored by Manchester United and recognised that they did score more goals after Christmas (Alex Ferguson was right). We wrote a balanced argument and did so much writing, we were all really proud of our work! We then had the case of Malificent in court, where we heard cases for and against going to jail, Judge Aiston sentenced Malificent (Phoebe) to jail for ever. She was taken away by our prison guards (Stephen and Tom).

Monday, 8 October 2012

Today in maths we have been learning about  why Manchester united did not win the premiership. We set the infomation out in frequency charts, also in bar charts and we had to do prove statments.

I literacy we discussed a balanced argument and began preparing our case files for the trial of Malificent later i the week.
